~~We were fortunate enough to obtain this outstanding bookcase and other contents of a French castle estate~~most certainly commissioned pieces for a family of wealth or royalty~~HIGH QUALITY 19th century Black Forest, Gothic and Renaissance Revival pieces in spectacular condition~~
Black Forest furniture (commonly known as "Hunt" style) was very popular in late 19th century France~~characterized by highly carved game such as rabbits, pheasants, foxes and hunting dogs~~~complemented by fruit, nut, floral, rosette, nut, ribbon accents or Gothic elements
~~Outstanding Jacobean doors with carved crosses in the labyrinth and ROARING LIONS~~
Original "wavy" glass in upper cabinet doors with intricately carved arched "cathedral" surrounds~~excellent condition with no breaks
~~Intricately carved friezes adorned by Black Forest fruit and nut elements~~
Three original shelves with carved edges and plate grooves in upper cabinet
~~Two hand-cut, dovetailed drawers and interior shelf in lower cabinet~~
Could be retrofitted as an exceptional gun cabinet~~has original key

CONDITION: This item is in very good condition with normal signs of age and use. There are some age-appropriate separations to the interior of the cabinet as would be expected for a piece of this age, but it does not affect the stability in any way. This item has its original key; however, old locking mechanisms are often finicky and never guaranteed. Multiple photos are provided that should be considered part of the description. Antiques should be purchased for craftsmanship, uniqueness, charm and character, and very few true antiques are "like new". We encourage you to ask questions prior to purchase.
