Antique French BRETON Desk, Fireside or Throne Chair~~Highly Carved Oak~~c. 1880s


  BEAUTIFULLY CARVED~~Breton furniture originated in late 19th century France in a region to the west of Normandy surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.  Because of the proximity to the ocean, many people of the era were fishermen.  The nautical and maritime themes are often characterized in Breton furniture with the portrayal of ship wheels and decorative spindle accents.  


Notice the details in the carved figures on back and arms~~beautiful spindle and gallery accents~~perfect for use as a hall, entry, desk, or accent chair!
