Highly requested classic French Breton design~~Breton (sometimes known as Brittany) furniture originated in late 19th century France in a region to the west of Normandy, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Because of the proximity to the ocean, many people of the era were fishermen. The nautical and maritime themes are often characterized in Breton furniture with the portrayal of ship wheels and decorative spindle accents.
